SHAPE SHIFTER
CHAPTER ONE
Liz Hampton was home sick on a hot summer day. Actually she had a very bad stomach virus. She had to call in sick. Liz lived in a nice big apartment in Manhattan by herself. She couldn’t sleep all day today, the neighbor down stairs was having a party all day this mourning and wouldn’t stop, across the halls neighbor’s dog wouldn’t stop barking until lunch and then continued. Also there were people outside arguing about not destroying the park across from my apartment. She loved that park too, but right now she didn’t care what they do as long as those people stop yelling on the top of their lungs and giving her a headache.
When she finally got some sleep, not entirely in peace and quiet, the phone rang.
damn it.
“Hello.” she said.
“Hey! Liz! I need you to do me a favor tomorrow. You do owe me remember?” said Jane.
Jane is Liz’s hippie friend. They use to go to college together. Jane looked like a plain Jane if you didn’t know her, but Liz did and knowing Jane she knew the trouble that follows behind her like Mary and her little lamb.
“Please don’t tell me that you want me to bail you out of jail just ‘cuz you wanted to free the animals from the zoo.”
“Oh! No! Not yet. I don’t want to go to jail on your birthday.”
She’d forgotten that her birthday was tomorrow. damn. She didn’t want to do anything on her birthday, especially with Jane. But she did owe Jane for taking away her whole day of park cleaning from her just to watch her cry all day about Richard cheating on her.
“Ok! What is it?” she said giving up her day of Chinese food and ice cream before she went to sleep.
“I want you to meet someone.”
That’s it? Messing with her day of sleep and eat just so she can meet someone. Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!
“What?!” Liz shot up forgetting the pain in her stomach.
“Come on it’s been a month since you dated someone. Start now.”
“Why can’t I just take you shopping instead and you tell the man no. Ok!?”
“Umm…. What if I said “sure she can go out with you, she’s totally free.”? Please don’t yell at me.” At that point she screamed. The sudden pain from her stomach was so excruciating that she was about to vomit. Laying back down she slowly began to talk.
“Why? I’m not ready yet. I only owe you whatever hippie things you need.
“Oh. Come on why not? You need this. If……” Not for you to meddle in my love life.
“You know what? I’m getting sick of this. Just tell him never mind and leave me alone. End. Of. Discussion.”
“But…”
“No buts Jane. Bye.”
“You’re gonna live a lonely life by yourself!” And then the line went dead. Great, now she doesn’t have a friend either. So Liz put the phone back on the receiver and drifted to sleep.” that's the end of chapter one. come back next time for chapter two. i hope you like this chapter 'cuz you'll love the next one. see ya later.... or wait i'm mean talk to you later sorry bye. >w<
